la nay ferme

I was so excited to learn about La Nay Ferme this week. I was bummed that Jacobs Cove was no longer here and even more bummed that a community that professes to eat "wisely" also can't support even one CSA. The farm is located by East Lawn Cemetary (better soil up there, maybe? bad joke. :0) in Provo. They've got partner gifts each week from local businesses and a local restaurant includes a dressing as well. Something I've never seen before in a CSA and I think it's rad. And hello? Edible flowers? YES PLEASE. They will also be doing Farm to Table dinners there this summer which I can't wait to try. Check it out and join!

Professional pictures are something I really want to do better at getting. We did some trade with my friend Amanda last year and I finally got around to scheduling her. It was really last minute, which made it not stressful at all. I love them. What a great time in our lives. Our kids are still so little and so innocent.

little bunny tay tay

My little bunny Tay Tay turned 1 on April 27. She is our world the last year. We all love her so much. Cody says he doesn't know what to do because he want to eat her. I know how he feels, I just want to roll her in a ball and put her back in my tummy, because I can't get close enough to her. Every morning Justin gets her out of her crib (sometimes before she wakes up) and brings her in our bed with all of us. She crawls over us, sits (or stands) on our faces, steals our phones, kisses us and makes us laugh. The night of her birthday a huge windstorm came through, knocking over trees - very fitting for our "Tay Tay Tornado">. Taylor had two parties, this one was for my family, and the one with cousin Rusty is forthcoming. The theme of the party was, "Use whatever I have on hand" and it worked out pretty well! This wall paper has been traveling around with us for 4 years, for now it served as the photobooth backdrop. Party favors were flowers wrapped in burlap. A little Saturday morning hike with my mom and the kids. We built boats to float down the stream and on the way home got caught in the Utah Valley Marathon traffic, after 40 min it was apparant we were still an hour from the mouth of the canyon with 3 tired and hungry kids. I pulled into the closed off lane and went for it. Got pulled over a quarter mile from the canyon and got a lecture. So worth it.

Last night I took Calley's senior pics. I still have never taken the time to learn how to use the manual function on digital cameras - I know what I should do but I just can't find the right button! So I was a little nervous. But we got some good ones! Thank goodness for Photoshop. I remember Calley as a 2 year old coming up to me and holding my hand when I first started dating Justin. Ahhh now that's crazy! The announcements.

Ashley also had me design a business card and logo for her biz. We went out on a limb on this one, adding in a couple accounting jokes. The concept behind this card is kind of a woodcut print, with a vintage scale illustrating her name, Perfect Balance. What do you think of this card? It's quite a stretch for Ashley, who is very conservative, but I think it adds some memorable humor to the stereotypical boring accountant. The back is similar to Brittany's, but with a general ledger (client: Rusty Busty - such financially responsible babies!). If the print is too small to read, the jokes say, "Eveyone stay calm, I'm an accountant" and "10/9 accountants can't count".

My sis-in-law asked me to make up some business cards and a graphic for her tax folders. She wanted them feminine yet professional. I love doing business cards because they are so tiny you don't get burned out. She does mostly tax so we put a 1040 tax form on the back. Her baby Bridger is getting a head start on his tax return! (he's on the form).

color me rad

Last week our fam got more colorful than my Grandpa Anderson's language. The guys Justin bought the Dirty Dash from also own Color Me Rad, a 5K that leaves you covered in chalk of every color. It's a photographers paradise. Justin went over early to volunteer and the kids and I ran part of it, then hung out at one of the stations and threw chalk at runners. The kids were in heaven!

A few pics from my friend Heathers wedding in February. She looked so so pretty, oh my goodness. It was at an Italian Restaurant in SLC and the food and atmosphere were great. Cammie and I took photos and I designed her invites. I love when people let me do whatever I want. I only had to make 40 invites but they had to be inexpensive. So we went with the thing I am known for when I comes to wedding invites: complicated assembly. Luckily it wasn't 600 like in times past.

My dream life includes goats, chickens, horses, a huge garden complete with a giant compost pile, a greenhouse, and a kitty. We are getting closer...our backyard is a cornfield! And the gardens of our neighbors in Vineyard are breathtaking! So for now I get to pretend while I bathe the baby in the farmhouse sink.

This is one of my favorite pics to date. I think these colors are indicative of what Taytay's personality will be. Bright, bold, high energy. Ellie makes me think of white, yellow and calm. So maybe a change of colors in the nursery is going to be in order. I finally did the binding on this quilt a couple weeks ago. I started it in Texas almost 3 summers ago!

So sad we missed 10 months, I think she had about 20 less hairs, so not much different.

bridger bear

Now that I've discovered the photobucket app I think I'll be posting a lot more! It's awesome! Here is little Bridger Bear, Brittany and Brett's Baby Boy, and Brayden's Brother. I think he's quite Bumble-y, which is the only adjective that starts with a B that I can think of at 10:00 pm.

spur of the moment

A couple weeks ago I had a meltdown - sometimes marriage is hard ya know?! But at the end of the day we are best buds. We talked on the phone that night for 3 hours! I have never talked on the phone to anyone for more than an hour, maybe. I hate the phone. Justin was in ABQ marketing our new Dirty Dash race he bought and then next morning he called me and said, "Pack your bags, your plane leaves at 1:00, I'll find babysitters." That sentence will tell you a lot about how Justin works: make the decision first, then figure out how to make it happen. So after much debate on the stupidity and rashness of this decision I packed my bags, go to check in online, and realize the ticket is for May 16, not March 16. Justin fixed it and I ended up leaving the next day. Thank you too everyone who helped watch the kids on short notice. We really needed some time to reconnect, it was good.












We stayed at one of the cutest boutique hotels I've been to, Hotel Parq Central. Its an old 1920's hospital on Route 66 renovated into a hotel. They have lots of artifacts in box frames throughout the hotel. And amazing quiche every morning.

We took the tram, ran in the green dress run for St. Patrick's Day (which I cannot show pictures of if we ever want to run for office), ate out, and relaxed on the roof of the hotel. We also bought shoes from the guy that owns Heart & Soul running store, where he showed us his collection of shoes belonging to Carl Lewis, Paula Radcliff, and 20 or so other runners I don't know about. He had the first shoes from every company and has 30 patents on different shoe designs. So interesting. He brought out what he says is the first Nike ever made and let us hold it. This job is very refreshing for Justin who was really sick of selling people something they didn't want. Trying to talk people into running a mud run is much easier, and part of promoting involves giving free teams away to running stores - definitely a much different vibe.
